Meet Jenni

Jenni McGinnis is a versatile musician, vocalist, and performer with extensive experience in several genres, including opera and musical theater. Jenni has more than 20 years experience teaching voice lessons, leading choirs, and music directing for the opera and theater.

Jenni is the owner of McG Music Studio and a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Several of her students have won regional and national competitions and have been admitted into prestigious music programs at the college level. Jenni is also the Music Director for the Next Generation Arts Council.

She is a graduate of the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music at The Catholic University of America, Jenni also holds a Master of Arts in Vocal Performance from George Mason University.

As a performer, Jenni is an operatic soprano, and has performed with several local companies, including Maryland Lyric Opera, the Reunion Music Society, Summer Opera Theater Company, Multimedia Performance Studio, Victorian Lyric Opera Company, Damascus Theater Company, Opera Camerata, and Riverbend Opera.

Her performances include the role of Kim in the east coast premiere of Opera.com.edy, Musetta in La Bohème, Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Carrie in Carousel, Gianetta in The Gondoliers, the Bloodied Child in MacBeth, Mlle Jouvenot in Adrienne Lecouvrer and Charlotte in A Little Night Music. She also created the role of Lust in The Blue Opera, and starred in that role for its world premiere.

In 2011, Jenni was chosen as the solo performer for the Secretary of Defense Freedom Awards Gala.

Jenni has also served as music director for several Montgomery County high school and community theater productions, including The Lion King with Next Gen; Alice in Wonderland with Damascus Creative Stage; Sweeney Todd, The Mikado, Les Miserables, Into the Woods, and The Gondoliers with Montgomery Blair High School; a musical production of A Midsummer Night's Dream with DTC Kids, as well as Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr. and Disney’s Cinderella Jr. with Ballet Petite.

Jenni has developed strong ties to the community over the years, resulting in her being asked to serve as the Co-Conductor of the Kentlands Children’s, Teen, Glee and Adult Choirs, in Gaithersburg, MD, and was on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the Damascus Theatre Company in Maryland.
