Testimonials from Students and Parents

"Jenni was an integral part of our lives for a decade. Both of my kids made great progress under her direction, both going on to secure major roles in school musicals. My kids felt very comfortable being themselves around Jenni, and it was obvious to them (and me) that she cared about them personally, not just as students."

"Jenni has an extremely healthy and productive long-term approach to the vocal development of young singers. She understands not only the pedagogy, but also the physiology of the young singer’s developing instrument. My daughter has received MANY compliments from prominent industry people, including performers, directors, agents, leading vocal instructors in top schools and programs, and so on, not only about the quality of her performances but also about her healthy technique and the evident excellent training she has had. "

"The improvement in my daughters’ voices after a few months was apparent even to my untrained ear. I have loved working with her as a parent. Her policies are clear but not overwhelmingly rigid. She’s professional and reliable. I can only imagine it’s super imposing to sing for someone else…she makes it such a non-judgmental space and both of my children have felt very at ease with her almost immediately."

"My experience with McG Music Studio has been nothing but positive! Jenni McGinnis is a wonderful teacher. Currently, as a trans man, I have gone back to McG studios to 're-learn' how to use my new lower voice, and it has been a very positive experience."

“We have tried lots of different music lessons but my daughter doesn't do well in a group and loses interest quickly so that every lesson became a fight. Jenni has changed all of that! She offers private lessons that are fun and 100% positive.”

In middle school, I really didn't have very much direction and I was afraid of going to high school. To make friends, I decided to go out for one of the high school's audition choirs, and though I didn't make it into the elite choir, I made the women's choir. I was happy, but I was afraid to sing out even in front of the other girls in the choir. I didn't have any confidence in my voice and most of them knew how to read music and sight-sing. I didn't. I started taking lessons with Ms. Jenni in the fall of my freshman year in the hopes of catching up with the other girls and eventually auditioning into the elite choir before my senior year.

That was three years ago. I now read music and sight sing and have much more confidence in my voice. I made the elite choir at my school in the spring of my sophomore year - and in my junior year we performed at the White House! Jenni has encouraged me to participate in competitions and summer music programs that have helped me grow even more. I am seriously considering majoring in music in college after I graduate.

Jenni has been such a wonderful teacher. She really "gets me" and her encouragement has helped me find my passion. She's always positive and helpful and treats each student like they are her only one. I just love her and I will miss her when I go to college - because without her I really don't know where I would have ended up.

“I really love working with Jenni. She is very easy to talk to and to sing in front of. She is very knowledgeable in vocal techniques and very interested in helping her students to reach their maximum potential without being intimidating or pushy. She is a joy to have for a teacher!”
